(September 26, 2008)—Voters in West Virginia will have to decide between Barack Obama, John McCain and Santa Claus.

Santa is one of 14 write-in presidential candidates registered with the West Virginia Secretary of State's office.

In this case, Mr. Claus is the former Thomas O'Connor.

O’Connor legally changed his name to Santa Claus in 2005, in part because of his resemblance to the most famous resident of the North Pole.

State officials say Santa filed the proper notarized form, so he's an official write-candidate for president in West Virginia.
