(October 6, 2008)—Three skydivers made history Sunday as they took a free fall over Mount Everest.
Britain's Holly Budge, New Zealand's Wendy Smith and Canada's Neil Jones set jumped from a plane that was flying at nearly 29,200 feet to the northwest of the 29,020-foot peak.
Each of the skydivers paid about $24,000 to make the jump.
To cope with freezing temperatures and thin air they had to use breathing equipment and specially made thick parachutes.
Another 29 members of the group are now waiting to make the same jump.
