(December 10, 2008)—A Ford dealer in Savannah, Ga. is running an ad that sounds more like a talk radio tirade than a sales pitch.

Dealer O. C. Welch began airing ads over the weekend that blast Congress for wrecking the economy and take consumers to task for driving Japanese cars that Welch says are "rice ready, not road ready."

Welch said he's angry about the proposed government bailout for Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC, saying it won't help car dealers.

He said his business hit a 32-year low last month, with sales down 60 percent.

Welch's ad also chides consumers for buying foreign cars and imported goods at Wal-Mart.

If the car companies would make a competitive product at a good price he would not be complaining. GM made 9.37 million cars in 2007 and lost 35 Billion dollars. Toyota made 9.37 million cars in 2007 and made 15 Billion. Maybe the American car makers need to look at their business practices and see what their expenses are and start trimming them to match their competitors. A good start would be the union contracts. Competition is what this country is all about. If you don't compete you fail. And the bailout is nothing but a gift to the unions. No thanks!
