(October 20, 2009)--A 35-year-old man evidently committed suicide as he drove into the path of Opeth's tour bus.

Singer Mikael Akerfeldt wrote on his MySpace site that drummer Martin Axenrot, guitarist Fredrik Akesson, soundman Pontus Norgren and he had flown home to Sweden for a few days while the rest of the crew drove from Dublin to Brussels.

He said another driver evidently blocked a lane of a highway on purpose.

The driver of the band’s bus driver tried to avoid the car, but the driver backed up to stay in the path.

The tour bus hit his car at a speed of about 50 miles per hour.

The man died in the crash.

No one on the tour bus was hurt but Akerfeldt said they were shaken.

He said police found what may be a suicide note.

Opeth plan to continue their European tour.
