To Yosemite’s Bears, Minivans Mean Lunch
A new study finds that when it’s time to eat, discerning bears in Yosemite prefer minivans.

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (October 26, 2009)--To bears in California's Yosemite National Park, minivans mean lunch.

Researchers say the bears seem to know that the boxes on wheels are loaded with a tasty combination of spilled juice boxes, Cheerios and coolers and other snacks.

A study published this month says hungry bears hit minivans more than other types of vehicles.

While the vans make up just seven percent of the cars visiting Yosemite, they were the targets of 29 percent of bear attacks.

The study is published in the Journal of Mammalogy.

To Jennica, I have no idea who you are. I have never seen a post from you on KWTX. So, don't flatter yourself, I am not stalking you. BTW, I forgot to put my name and location, so I will do that this time so that you don't confuse me with your so called anonymous stalker.

P.S. One doesn't need to be a bear expert to have read the pamphlets printed by the National Park Service. Furthermore, several years of Search & Rescue excursions in mountainous back-country just might teach you a thing or two about survival and cohabitating with wildlife (it did me.) Oh, and I don't eat in my car (fast food is not my idea of healthy living.)
