DALLAS (November 10, 2009)—An emergency slide and the door of the compartment in which the slide was stowed dropped off an Airbus A319 jet during a test flight Tuesday.

The plane is undergoing maintenance in Dallas.

The slide and the door fell off the jet shortly after the crew took off on a test flight Tuesday afternoon from Dallas Love Field.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He said the jet was undergoing maintenance at the Associated Air Center at Love Field when the incident happened.

Lunsford said no injuries were reported, and the jet was able to land safely.

He said the door fell on the airfield, but Dallas police are helping search for the missing slide.

Associated Air Center spokesman Mike Turner said the plane was a private executive jet but declined to identify the owner.
