BELTON (December 11, 2012)—It will be more than a year before curbside recycling is offered in town.
Many residents were expecting the service to begin in the next few months, but the plans were put on hold Tuesday evening.
The city council asked the city manager to put the job out for a bid again.
The request comes after the garbage contractor the city planned to use said they would charge an additional fifty cents to resident’s bills.
The city wants to find a contractor that will help them keep costs low.
City officials don’t expect the program to kick in until 2014.
