BELTON (January 22, 2013)--The community is invited to come out and vote on their favorite canstruction, a structure built of nonperishable food that will be donated to community members in need.
Seven teams will compete in this year’s event, scheduled from Thursday through Saturday.
Among the teams competing are Architectural Edge, Belton Tigers, and Foundation United Methodist Church who have competed in years past.
The teams have three hours to build their structure before being judged by a “celebrity jury” and the community.
The community is invited to watch the teams canstruct on Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.
Suggested admission is 5 non-perishable food items or $5 on Thursday.
Exhibits will be displayed all day Friday and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. for the cost of one non-perishable food item or $1.
The public is also invited to the Gala & Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the UMHB Mayborn Campus Center.
Tickets are $30 per person.
The keynote speaker is Graduate Professor for Baylor University’s School of Social Work Dr. Gaynor Yancey.
