The report identifies the most significant gangs in Central Texas as the Texas Mexican Mafia, the Texas Syndicate and the Tango Blast cliques the Orejones and ATX.

Other gangs in the region include the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, various cliques of the Crips and Bloods, Bandidos, Hermandad de Pistoleros Latinos, Sureños, Aryan Circle, Latin Kings, and the Gangster Disciples, the report says.

The report says 2,500 gangs operate throughout the state with a total membership of more than 100,000.

It says gangs pose a substantial threat to public safety and are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime.

The report identifies Tango Blast as the state’s most significant gang threat, topping the Mexican Mafia.

“While gangs continue to pose a significant threat to public safety in Texas, we are committed to protecting the people of Texas from these criminals,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw.
