TEMPLE (March 15, 2013)—Hannah Smith will turn 13 this weekend but instead of celebrating herself, she will spend her birthday helping others.
She is the daughter of Kent and Renay Smith of Temple and has chosen Helping Hands Ministry in Belton as her birthday party spot.
She and her friends will be providing food and clothing to those less fortunate; however, her service to others will not end there.
In a few months she will be on the basketball court raising awareness and funds for children who have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
Hannah’s Hoops of Hope marathon will be held May 4.
“She is living an exemplary life. It’s (Hoops of Hope) just another example of her character and heart,” Foundation United Methodist Church Youth Pastor Clinton Sharp said.
Hannah and her friends will spend Sunday afternoon helping to sort clothes, clean and organize.
