BELTON (December 17, 2013) A contract worker whom officials identified as Cristian Hefner, 19, died Tuesday morning in an accident while cleaning the inside of a tank at a roofing product company in Belton.
The accident happened late Tuesday morning at the Tarco plant on Taylors Valley Road in Belton.
Tarco makes industrial roofing products.
Hefner, who worked for a company that Tarco hired to clean out asphalt tanks, was using a power washer when material broke loose from the tank’s wall and killed him, officials said.
No further details were released, but officials said his death was accidental.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration will be notified, officials said.
Tarco officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Temple Fire & Rescue, Belton Fire Department and Belton police were sent to the company at around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Temple Fire & Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said firefighters began a rescue operation but could not save the victim, who was pronounced dead at around 11:50 a.m.
