CAMERON (September 12, 2012)—Former Rockdale High School football standout Derek Tremayne David, 19, has been charged with online solicitation of a minor/sexual conduct in an ongoing investigation of the exploitation of minors through the social media site Facebook, police said Wednesday.

Cameron officers took David into custody Tuesday, the fourth arrest in the investigation, police said.

David was free on bond at the time of his arrest on a second-degree felony sexual assault charge stemming from an incident in March 2011 involving a 16-year-old girl who said she was lured to a home to play video games and then was forced inside and sexually assaulted.

The victim told police she pleaded with her attacker to stop, but he refused.

In May 2011, David was arrested and charged with possessing drugs on campus after authorities seized a small quantity of marijuana.

He also posted bond on that charge.

David is a 6-foot, 4-inch, 225-pound junior linebacker whom several major colleges were recruiting.
