CAMERON (August 9, 2012)—An elusive prowler is evidently wandering through the backyards of homes late at night on the east side of Cameron, but so far no one has seen him.

Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said Thursday the prowler has activated motion lights and caused dogs to bark as he enters backyards late at night or early in the morning and has occasionally left beer cans or other alcoholic beverage containers behind.

The prowler has rattled the back doors of some homes, but no break-ins have been reported, Dixon said.

Authorities are urging residents lock doors, keep exterior lights on overnight and to call police if they hear or see anything suspicious.
