CAMERON (January 14, 2013)--Cameron City Council will hold a special meeting Monday to discuss and possibly take action on bids on a water treatment plant and surface water storage tank improvement.

The city water system collected 6 samples of water in October that contained coliform bacteria, bacteria that is naturally present and used as an indicator that other potentially harmful bacteria may be present.

For water systems analyzing fewer than 40 samples per month, no more than one sample per month can test positive for the bacteria.

Officials hope that a new water treatment plant will alleviate some of the bacteria concerns.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The building is located at 100 S. Houston.

The meeting could go into closed session but it is open to the public.
