CAMERON (October 11, 2012)—A dozen cars and at least one city building were targets of vandals overnight in Cameron.

Cameron police Chief Randy Dixon said from late Wednesday night into the early morning hours Thursday, vandals broke out windows and windshields of vehicles parked in front of homes.

The rocks were taken from the Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad line, he said.

The vandals also broke out a large plate glass window at the city water office.

The vandals struck in several parts of town, Dixon said, including North Fannin Avenue, North Lamar Avenue, North Central Avenue, Wallace Street, North Houston Street, North Davis Street, and around the Ledbetter Park Area.

"So far a total of a dozen or more vehicles have been damaged with the windshields being knocked out," Dixon said in a news release Thursday.

"The police department feels that the same individuals are responsible for all these criminal mischief episodes," he said.

Dixon said damage to the vehicles will range into the thousands of dollars and includes the broken glass as well as body damage and damage to paint.

Police say they have no suspects, but investigators may be able to develop some leads from vehicle owners who may have seen suspicious cars or people in their neighborhoods.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the vandalism or the vandals to call the Cameron Police Department Milam County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-697-TIPS.
