COPPERAS COVE (January 7, 2013) ---Security efforts continued Monday as students headed back to class in Copperas Cove after a series of bomb threats right before the Christmas break.

"Security will be in place at the schools based on a campus-by-campus basis, we do not want to give out specific security details for the safety of our students," CCISD Spokesperson Olga Pena said.

Pena said classes started normally Monday and there were no delays in getting students into classrooms.

The threats before Christmas led to school evacuations and the cancellation of classes district-wide for two days.

"The next step for the board of trustees is to address the two days that are in question that students missed," Pena said.

Nine teenagers have been charged in connection with six of the 11 threats, which started on Dec. 4 and targeted the high school, Copperas Cove Junior High School and S. C. Lee Junior High School.

No explosive devices were found.
