COPPERAS COVE (February 11, 2013) --- Copperas Cove police arrested a man on Sunday after someone spotted him walking through a neighborhood, trying to open the doors of parked vehicles.

Police found the man walking toward a mobile home park in the area of Willow Drive.

Officers noticed that the man’s pockets and sweatshirt were full of items and when they asked about them, he told officers he had been “car checking.”

When they searched the man, officers found money, headphones, a camera, a metal cigarette case, a wooden pipe, a phone charger and a ring.

He told officers the items were from vehicles in the neighborhood, police said in an arrest warrant affidavit.

One of the officers drove the man through the neighborhoods where he pointed out the vehicles he had broken into.
