COPPERAS COVE (October 11, 2012)--Two men who were arrested just after midnight Tuesday morning in a break-in at the Smoke Shack in Copperas Cove were free on bond Thursday.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police confronted Matthew Alexander Nesman, 19, and Jordan Cullison Ross Burnette, 22, both of Fort Hood, after they discovered that a Smoke Shack window had been broken.
The men denied breaking the window, but the arrest affidavit says Burnette later said he broke the window by accident with his wrench.
The affidavit also says that Nesman said, "It's not what it looks like," and claimed he was only trying to report the burglary.
Both men later admitted they were breaking into the business to get spice and money, the affidavit said.
Nesman and Burnette were released from jail on $5,000 bonds on the same day of their arrest.
