Dedric Williams (Jail photo)
COPPERAS COVE (November 29, 2012) ---Dedric Williams, 37, of Copperas Cove, has been charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault in connection with an incident last week in which another man was stabbed.
Justice of the Peace John Guinn arraigned Williams and set his bond at $20,000.
An arrest affidavit says Copperas Cove officers were sent to a home at around 9 p.m. on Nov. 21 at 1106 Sublet Ave. in response to report that a man had been stabbed inside his home.
The injured man was flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
The victim’s fiancée told officers she was putting her newborn baby to sleep when she heard him return home from the store.
Shortly after that she heard a loud knock at the door and the sounds of people fighting, the affidavit said.
The woman told officers she tried to break the fight up but couldn't.
She ran back to her bedroom to protect her children and later returned to find her fiancée lying on the floor, bleeding profusely.
The victim called officers two days after the stabbing and said he thought his attacker was his fiancée’s former brother-in-law.
Investigators assembled a photo lineup and met with the victim at the hospital where he identified Williams as his attacker, the affidavit said.
