COPPERAS COVE (February 19, 2013) --- A fence between two homes at 2208 Scott Drive in Copperas Cove went up in flames Sunday afternoon and now an arson investigation has been launched.

Copperas Cove homeowner Aletha Simpson said just before 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon firefighters had to put out a fire on the fence in her backyard.

Simpson said her three teenagers saw the flames while she was at the store and called 911.

The teens tried unsuccessfully to put out the fire using a garden hose.

"I'm still a nervous wreck, and it could have been worse it could have blown back at them or the debris could have blown back and caught them," Simpson said.

Some items were damaged in Simpson's backyard and part of the fence will have to be replaced.

Simpson said the fire investigators were still looking into the case as an arson case and that she was still working with them to find out the cause.

The Fire Department could not be reached for comment on the investigation.
