COPPERAS COVE (April 2, 2013)--While tenants are continuing to lease space at Copperas Cove’s Five Hills shopping center, a separate endeavor at the Narrows Business and Technology Park is underway.
According to City Manager Andrea Gardner construction is underway on Old Copperas Cove Road behind the shopping complex to realign the road to ease area road congestion and to square up the shopping complex and the new business park.
Within 60 days the roadwork should be completed.
The business park construction should begin in the next 90 days depending on the paperwork process and the weather, Gardner said.
The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation (EDC) approved the plan (in concept) for the new business center at their latest meeting.
“We will invite site selectors, companies themselves, and real estate professionals to come to Cove and see firsthand what is being built. The companies that chose to come to our community will employ people, buy products and services here in Copperas Cove, pay taxes and serve as good corporate neighbors. Neither the board nor I have a vision where these newcomers will be in competition with our existing businesses,” an EDC spokesperson wrote on their website.
As for the shopping center, Endeavor Real Estate Group Development Associate Daniel Campbell confirmed Tuesday a mixture of businesses to be housed at the complex, including AT&T, medical facilities including an eye doctor and dentistry office, hair and nail salon and a bank.
Some of the tenants could open their doors in June or July, Campbell said.
More than 60 percent of the space has been leased and all space is expected to be leased by next year.
“It’s really remarkable that we leased out such a big percentage before finishing construction. We ask that shoppers remain patient while companies finish the process of opening their businesses,” Campbell said.
