COPPERAS COVE (March 7, 2013)--Washington Redskins quarterback, Baylor Heisman Trophy winner, and Copperas Cove native Robert Griffin III will make an appearance and say a few words during an official street name dedication ceremony Friday.
The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. Friday and is not expected to last longer than 30 minutes, Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation spokesperson Monica Hull said.
Although the sign “Robert Griffin III Boulevard” was placed earlier this year, the official ceremony will be Friday with numerous organizations to give comments and, of course, RG3 himself.
RG3’s family will also be present at the event which is expected to attract hundreds to the site at the Five Hills Shopping Complex at the intersection of US 190 and the south bypass.
As part of the event CCISD Public Information Officer Olga Pena is expected to sing “God Bless America” and a fire truck will break ribbon during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
It is open to the public, however, those in attendance are advised to get there early as some areas will be blocked off to traffic.
Others in attendance include: the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation, city officials, Fort Hood officials, Endeavor Real Estate Group, CCISD and the chamber of commerce.
