COPPERAS COVE (September 28, 2012)-The 15th annual National Night Out kick off party has been scheduled for Saturday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The Copperas Cove Police Department will be hosting the public event which has been moved indoors to accomodate inclement weather.
The 15th annual National Night Out kick off party is being relocated from the downtown area to the Copperas Cove Civic Center, located at 1206 West Avenue B (FM 1113).
Hotdogs, chips, cookies, popcorn, soft drinks, and sno-cones will be served.
There will be a number of events for children and adults, as well as door prizes that will be given away throughout the evening.
Some of the events are at no charge and others are priced at 25 cents each.
McGruff the Crime Dog, Sparky the Fire Dog, Recycle Michael, and H-E-Buddy will all be at the party for the 3rd annual "Dance Off."
Musical entertainment will be provided by the YMCA.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
