COPPERAS COVE (March 14, 2013)--The Texas Department of Transportation will shift traffic on FM 116 beginning Saturday.
The temporary change will shift northbound and southbound traffic to the west side of FM 116 to allow for construction of the new northbound lanes connecting State Highway 9 to FM 116.
Concrete traffic barriers will be installed along with re-striping from the Copperas Cove Public Works Office to south of Anderson Avenue.
The $32 million dollar project to construct a new roadway as a northeast relief route began in 2011.
The temporary change in traffic patterns will remain in place until the completion of the project, scheduled for this summer.
TxDOT is asking drivers to be patient and observe speed limits and warning signs in the construction zone.
