COPPERAS COVE (June 11, 2012)—The disappearance of Jerett Rebel Braunberger, 11, and his brother Izak Russell Braunberger, 8, of Copperas Cove, which led police to issue an Amber Alert Thursday, “was the result of a miscommunication between adults,” police said Monday “and the children’s welfare was never jeopardized.”
Police said Monday no charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
Bell County sheriff’s deputies found the boys at around 11 a.m. Thursday, nearly 24 hours after they left with a neighbor and her two children to go swimming.
Cove police said that after the boys were reported missing, officers tried to locate the neighbor through her employer only to learn that she hadn’t been at work for two days.
After attempts to find her through friends and relatives were also unsuccessful, police said, the decision was made to issue the Amber Alert at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
