COPPERAS COVE (February 22)--H-E-B met with local residents at the Economic Development Center in Copperas Cove for a workshop on how to do business with HEB. Those who attended had services and products to promote from pest control to a bottled beverage made especially for a young girls Quinceanera.

Tausinio and Eileen Silao attended the workshop to find out how they could get their Hawaiian leis on the shelves of H-E-B. "We hope to have the opportunity to work and network with many different businesses sharing our culture and sharing our leis," said Tausinio.

HEB recently opened a new store in Copperas Cove and wanted to meet with residents in the area to see about getting their products on the shelves. "We're always looking to see what's local," said Tamra Jones, H-E-B Public Affairs Specialist. "Where from Texas and we want to be sure we hire other Texans and were helping out the community."

Eileen Silao started here lei making while part of a missionary group that traveled to third world countries. The demand grew for leis and which led Eileen to take on a different mission... Start a lei making business.

"If H-E-B took us in as a business, that would help me promote the leis and it would help us spread the spirit of aloha and that would help the business grow with different diversities," said Eileen.

The leis are made out of flowers, candy or money and according to Eileen, there has been request for the leis for high school homecomings, graduations and holiday events. "I chose H-E-B because when I went to the florist shop, I saw some of the seasonal promotions for graduation and I thought, what an opportunity if we could have a lei out there to go with that."

To begin the business process with H-E-B, vendors need to fill out an application found on H-E-B's website. "We have a great website and vendors can go online and register and then when HEB is looking for a particular type of service, they call up their information and reach out to local vendors," said Jones.
