WASHINGTON (July 2, 2012)—Fort Hood Staff Sgt. Robert A. Massarelli, 32, of Hamilton, Ohio, and Sgt. Michael J. Strachota, 28, of White Hall, Ark., died on June 24 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, the military said Monday.

No further details were provided.

The circumstances of their deaths are under investigation, Fort Hood said Monday.

They were both assigned to Fort Hood’s 96th Transportation Company, 180th Transportation Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary).

Massarelli joined the Army in 2001.

He deployed to Iraq from May 2004 to February 2005, August 2006 to September 2007 and January 2009 to January 2010.

Strachota joined the Army in June 2007.

He deployed to Iraq from October 2008 to October 2009.
