Fort Hood: Bronze Star Winner’s Death Under Investigation

An investigation is underway after a Fort Hood soldier who was awarded two Bronze Stars was found unresponsive in his on-post residence was pronounced dead at a hospital.

FORT HOOD (October 18, 2012)—Fort Hood is investigating the death of Sgt. 1st Class Brian John Peckham, 38, of West Kingston, R.I., who was pronounced dead at around 3:45 a.m. Thursday after he was found unresponsive in his on-post residence.

Peckham, whose awards and decorations included two Bronze Stars, deployed to Afghanistan from January 2002 to July 2002 and to Iraq from March 2003 to February 2004 and March 2007 to May 2008.

He joined the Army in 1995, arrived at Fort Hood and had been assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 8th Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade since October.
