GATESVILLE (December 11, 2012)--A Gatesville man was in the Coryell County Jail Tuesday charged in connection with an assault on a pawnshop employee with a knife.
Clinton Eugene Reid, 36, was ordered held in lieu of $20,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
.
Gatesville police Chief Nathan Gohlke said officers were sent just before 2:30 p.m. Monday to a pawn shop in the 100 block of North Lutterloh Avenue where an employee reported he had been assaulted with a knife.
As officers arrived at the store they stopped a man was leaving who fit the description of the man who the clerk said assaulted him.
The police report says a man came into the store to pay for and pick up some firearms that had been pawned.
When the clerk explained the store had put a hold on the items the customer became angry, grabbed a large folding knife and reached across the counter to threaten the employee.
The employee was not injured, Gohlke said.
