GATESVILLE (September 10, 2012)--Spurfest 2012 kicks off Friday and promises food, fun, music, greased pigs, classic cars, running, disc golf and golf.
A rodeo was originally planned but had to be cancelled because of conflicting events.
The fun will take place and Raby and Faunt Le Roy city parks and golf will be held at the golf course downtown.
Gatesville Shivaree will be held in conjunction with the event to include food and vendors.
The Shivaree event will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Visitors to the festival can also visit the Coryell Museum to witness butter churning, quilting and to get a tour of the old log jail.
Organizers say one of the biggest highlights will be at 7:30 p.m. near the courthouse where a street dance will get underway.
Rodney Parker and Bleu Edmondson will provide the live entertainment.
Wristbands will be available at North and South 7th Streets, the designated concert entrances.
Sunday's fun will begin at 9 a.m. at the Gatesville Country Club where golfers will get to participate in the Spurfest Classic Golf Tournament.
Prices for the three-day festival will vary, as some events will cost a fee.
