LAMPASAS (June 1, 2012)--Lampasas County sheriff's deputies are investigating an aggravated kidnapping that happened early Wednesday morning in Coryell County that led to an aggravated robbery in Lampasas County.
Lampasas County Sheriff David S. Whitis said his office was notified at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday that a man had been kidnapped from a convenience store in Copperas Cove and taken to his residence, which is in Kempner, across the Lampasas County line.
Whitis said the kidnapper took several items from the residence and then fled.
There were other people at the residence but no one was hurt, Whitis said.
Whitis said Copperas Cove police also are assisting in the investigation.
Copperas Cove police Sgt. Kevin Keller said his department is working on the case, but said he could release only limited information.
Keller said the 41-year-old victim was abducted either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning from a 7-Eleven store at 2012 Ave B.
Keller said Copperas Cove detectives are working on their portion of the case.
Lampasas County Deputy Benito Uvalle, who is assigned to investigate the case, has identified a suspect but so far no one has been arrested.
Authorities say the kidnapper and his victim were acquainted.
