GROESBECK (December 17, 2012)--First-grader Marisa Sexton wore a homemade shirt to class Monday to honor the victims of the tragic Sandy Hook shooting.

Her parents, Richard and Shannon Sexton, created the shirt for their daughter in an effort to urge other parents to be open with their children about what happened Friday in Newtown, and to show support for the families of those who lost their lives.

The shirt features 20 children, including 8 boys and 12 girls, as well as six adults holding hands, each with halos over their heads. The date of the tragedy and the words “gone but not forgotten” are written inside the clouds on the back of the shirt.

Marisa attends H O Whitehurst Elementary School in Groesbeck.
