HARKER HEIGHTS (January 2, 2013) ---Richard Peter, 39, spent his birthday behind bars in the Bell County Jail Wednesday after he was arrested and charged with assault on a public servant, assault causing bodily injury, and resisting arrest in a New Year’s Eve incident in which a female police officer was attacked.

The officer, who was not named, was attacked after she responded to a report of an assault Monday.

She was struck in the head as she and another officer fought with a man identified in an arrest affidavit as Peter.

The affidavit says that a witness told officers Peter grabbed the officer by the hair and pulled her to the ground.

Peter was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $210,000.
