HARKER HEIGHTS (March 12, 2013) --- A Killeen teenager was still behind bars Monday after Harker Heights police arrested him at Chase Bank in Market Heights where an officer found him slumped over the steering wheel of a car that was facing the wrong way in a drive-through lane, an arrest warrant affidavit says.

David Torres, 18, was jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $33,000, charged with drug possession and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

He was arrested Thursday after an officer responded to a report that a man was passed out behind the wheel of a car in the drive-through.

Torres didn’t respond the first time the officer knocked on the driver’s side window, but the second time he sat up, the affidavit said.

“I observed he had drool running from his mouth and his hands were resting on his lap,” the affidavit said.

The officer ordered him to put his hands on the steering wheel, and in response Torres “shrugged as if he wanted to comply, but could not make his arms function,” the affidavit said.

“His “speech was slurred, mumbled and barely audible,” the affidavit said.

When Torres finally stepped out of the car, the officer found a 10-mm Glock pistol in the left front pocket of his pants and also recovered a small plastic bag containing a green leafy substance “that had the look and smell of fresh marijuana,” the affidavit said.
