HARKER HEIGHTS (December 13, 2012)--A pedestrian hit last week by a pickup that left the scene is still recovering at Scott and White Hospital.
The victim’s mother Kathy Vaughn said Thursday police still have not located the late model Ford Ranger pickup truck nor identified the driver that struck Michelle Newton at around midnight Saturday at the intersection of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Harley Drive.
Police said in an earlier release that the truck should have damage to the passenger side headlight.
Newton, who suffered two broken legs and damage to her pelvis and lower back, has a four-year-old son and no insurance, her mother said.
A fund has been set up to alleviate the burden of some of the medical expenses at First Texas Bank under the name Kathy Vaughn – Special Account.
Investigators are still asking that any information about the accident be directed to the Harker Heights Police Department at (254) 953-5400.
