KILLEEN (March 7, 2013)--Killeen Brownie Girl Scout Troop 6113 is showing they care by collecting stuffed bears for children in need.

In celebration of Girl Scout Week which begins Monday, the second graders are asking the public for donations of gently-used teddy bears and other stuffed animals.

The stuffed animals can be dropped off at the Killeen Program Center at 2909 Lake Road now through March 16.

They will be brought to the police department and given away to children in need of comfort during crisis situations.

The troop will also participate in a “take action project” Saturday during the Harker Heights Animal Shelter Pet Adoption Day held at the First National Bank in Harker Heights.

The troop made posters and pet toys in an effort to promote healthy living with pets.
