HILLSBORO (March 29, 2013)--On Monday, construction workers will begin working on culverts to improve drainage on I-35 in Hill Country as part the first phase a project.
This will take place near the Johnson County line, south of Grandview and the first of three work sites.
Existing culverts in this area will be widened and roads will remain open at this time.
The second and third phases of this project will require short-distance main lane closure south of Itasca, alternating between northbound and southbound closures.
Traffic will be shifted into one lane at various places for up to one month at a time while existing culverts are replaced.
Second and third phases causing closures are not anticipated to begin until May.
The project is expected to take approximately six months.
