KILLEEN (April 24, 2013)—An early Wednesday morning fire in a Killeen duplex resulted in three residents being displaced but no one was injured.
Killeen firefighters were called just minutes before 3 a.m. to a duplex in the 1100 block of Brewster Avenue where the first units to arrive reported smoke and fire coming from the residence.
Firefighters also said they feared explosions because there were two propane tanks that were inside the homes but after some investigation neither one had ruptured.
The residents in Units A and B already had evacuated the homes, Killeen fire Chief J.D. Gardner said.
Gardner said firefighters made an aggressive attack inside the structure and had the fire knocked down within a few minutes.
Three adults were displaced by the blaze and some residents in nearby apartments were evacuated until the fire was out.
No one was injured, Gardner said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation on Wednesday.
