Boy, 3, Survives Near Drowning; Said To Be Doing Well In Local Hospital

A 3-year-old boy who nearly drowned Friday morning in the bathtub in his family’s home was alert and doing well Friday afternoon at a local hospital.

KILLEEN (March 1, 2013)—A 3-year-old boy who was found underwater and unresponsive in the bathtub of his family’s home Friday morning in Killeen was alert and doing well Friday afternoon at Scott & White Children’s Hospital in Temple, a fire official said.

The near drowning was reported at around 8:45 a.m. Friday at a home in the 3300 block of Doffy Drive in Killeen.

The boy’s mother told authorities she stepped out of the bathroom for a minute while the youngster was bathing and when she returned found him underwater.

The boy’s parents and neighbors were administering CPR when paramedics and firefighters arrived, authorities said.

The boy’s name wasn’t released.
