KILLEEN (April 19, 2011)—Central Texas College police responded to a report of a man with a gun on campus Monday but after a search no weapon was found.

A male student called police and reported what he said was a threat made against him by another man who had a gun.

According to the student, the assailant was not a CTC student.

Campus police responded and were able to identify the man whom the victim said made the threat.

After searching the suspect officers did not find a weapon.

Nor were officers able to find anyone who could substantiate the threat made against the student.

The suspect was released.

Officers obtained three witness statements and continued to search for more witnesses.

The suspect was given a trespass warning and told not to return to campus.

CTC police said they would contact the Bell County District Attorney’s office to see if additional charges were appropriate.

I talked to a witness last night who saw the confrontation and saw the gun. This story is legit and I can't believe it took so long to be reported. Maybe the guy would have been caught with the gun if a better response had happened. I don't especially advocate guns on campus, but I don't see why they are specifically banned there either. This gun carrier was not a student, but arguments could go either way IF the student he confronted had also had a gun. There could have been a shootout with multiple injuries OR the confrontation might never have happened if he knew his opponent carried a gun on campus.

Somebody obviously wants to create or drum-up support for guns on college campuses.
