Harker Heights: Former Mayor And Fort Hood Commander Passes Away

HARKER HEIGHTS (January 2, 2013)--Former mayor and retired Fort Hood commander Maj. Gen. Stewart C. Meyer passed away Monday at Metroplex Hospital.

He was 91 years old.

Meyer was formerly in charge of the Test and Experimental Command at West Fort Hood and served as the Harker Heights’ mayor about 4 years beginning in 1993.

Military awards include a Silver Star for gallantry, Purple Heart, 16 air medals and five Bronze Stars.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Killeen.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
