KILLEEN (October 24, 2012) --- Ronald Singh, 27, was free on bond Thursday after he was arrested and charged with assault, resisting arrest and burglary in an incident in Killeen involving a break-in, an assault and the death of a dog.

Singh was arrested on Oct. 19 at a home in the 4200 Block of Telluride Drive in Killeen.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers arrived at the home and found a broken window and smoke coming out of the home.

When they entered they put out a small fire in a closet.

They took Singh into custody when he came out of the home, but not without some difficulty, the affidavit said.

Officers ordered Singh to get on the ground before they detained him and he refused, the affidavit said.

Two officers had to force Singh’s hands behind his back to put handcuffs on him, the affidavit said.

Officers reported smelling lighter fluid on Singh, who later said his genitals were burning because he had poured lighter fluid on himself, the affidavit said.

Officers also found traces of blood on Singh, the affidavit said.

Inside the home, officers found blood on the wall and carpet and saw blood coming from a small black dog that appeared to be dead inside a cage, the affidavit said.

Animal control officers were called after the dog was found.

A woman who told officers she was Singh’s ex-wife said she had been choked and assaulted, the affidavit said.

A judge set bond for Singh at $110,000 and jail records show he bonded out of jail on Monday.
