KILLEEN (December 6, 2012) --- Close to 900 students in one local area are currently homeless, but there's a way to help these students during the holidays.

The clothing and toy drive called Operation Red Nose started Thursday and will be accepting donations at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen until December 16th at 2 p.m.

Items collected will go to students in the Killeen and Copperas Cove school districts.

Toys, clothing, or even gift cards and money are needed to help out the cause.

"They're going to be able to come back to school in January and say I got this for Christmas or I got that and they're going to be just like the rest of the kids which is kind of our goal and not draw attention to them so they'll be just like everybody else," Christina Wilson, of KISD's Homeless Awareness Response Program, said.

Donations can be dropped off in Killeen at Metroplex Hospital at the Behavioral Health Center Building.
