KILLEEN (October 15, 2012)--The Meals on Wheels program received a new delivery vehicle Monday that will assist the organization in getting food to shut-ins.
The Exchange Club of Killeen presented the vehicle at Yank Sing Restaurant.
According to the Meals on Wheels website, they deliver a hot lunch, meeting 1/3 of the recommended daily allowances for older adults. The meal generally consists of an entree, two servings of vegetables or fruit, dessert, milk, bread, and condiments.
Diabetic meals and meals for pets are also available to those who qualify.
The program is funded, in part, by the government as well as client contributions and donors.
