KILLEEN (June 26, 2012)—Killeen City Council members will review a draft contract Tuesday night that would make acting City Manager Glenn Morrison the permanent city manager.
Morrison was named assistant city manager in November 2008 and has served as interim city manager for just more than a year in the wake of the storm of controversy that surrounded the departure of Killeen’s previous city manager.
Last November Killeen council members Scott Cosper, Larry Cole, Billy Workman, Kenny Wells and Juan Rivera were recalled over a $750,000 buyout paid to former City Manager Connie Green.
The recall petition drive was fueled by frustration over the severance payment to Green, who retired in April after earlier going on leave.
The proposed contract with Morrison provides for six months of severance pay and a salary of $165,000 a year.
The contract will be reviewed during a workshop session.
The council votes during a business session Tuesday night whether to approve the contract.
