Area District Accepts Football Coach's Resignation

LOMETA (september 17, 2012)-A Lometa High School football coach who was arrested in August on warrants charging improper relationship with a student is no longer employed by the district.

The school board held a meeting Monday night and talked about personnel issues in the athletic department regarding staffing.

Following the meeting the board released a statement that said, "Tonight the Lometa Independent School District accepted the resignation of Mr. Wendell Bradley. The community is grieving over this matter, but we are moving forward."

Henderson County sheriff's deputies arrested Bradley late last month in Henderson County after a Lampasas County judge issued warrants for charging two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student and one count of online solicitation of a minor.

Bradley was taken to the Henderson County Jail in Athens and was later freed on $30,000 bond.

Lometa ISD officials confirmed on August 31 that Bradley was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

Lometa ISD Superintendent David Rice said the school has been working with the Lampasas County Sheriff's Office on the investigation.

"It's always a concern when you lose your head football coach but Aaron Nuckles has moved in as the interim coach as we continue our own investigation into what happened," Rice said.
