LAMPASAS (December 3, 2012)—The search continues for a man described as armed and dangerous who’s wanted in connection with a car theft in Lampasas County.
The man fled on foot Sunday after a chase that started in Burnet and ended in a crash south of Lampasas.
The man is wanted in connection with the theft of a 2004 Thunderbird convertible over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend from a residence in Lampasas County where he was staying.
The chase started late Sunday morning after a Burnet officer checking on a report of a reckless diver tried to pull over the car in which the man and a woman were riding.
The driver sped off, but the car ended up crashing on Highway 281 south of Lampasas.
The woman stayed in the car and was taken into custody, but the man ran into a wooded area.
Police searched for him until dark Sunday.
A records check showed that the car was the same one stolen late last month.
