LAMPASAS (November 27, 2012)—It will only be a matter of months before residents begin to notice a new fire station going up in town.
The City of Lampasas, Lampasas County officials along with J Jacobs Construction will host a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday to kick off the construction of a new fire station at 1107 E. Fourth Street.
The construction company won the bid at $1,063,514 and will serve as the general contractor.
The more than $1 million city-owned two-story facility will have at least twice as many bays as at the current location, allowing two trucks to share one bay, as well as an administration office, separate sleeping areas for men and women, a kitchen, a laundry room, and a workout area.
Water and sewer lines have already been installed.
The county will share in expenses and have access to the amenities.
The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony slated for 10 a.m. on site.
