LAMPASAS (January 15, 2013)--A meeting will be held Tuesday to discuss the Lampasas River Watershed Protection Plan draft, which affects 7 area counties.

The draft is intended to address water quality concerns after potentially harmful bacteria was found in the river.

The 100-plus page draft was carefully constructed by the Lampasas River Watershed Partnership and affects Mills, Hamilton, Lampasas, Coryell, Burnet, Bell and Williamson counties.

The plan will be funded through a Clean Water Act grant to Texas AgriLife Research, administered by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Tuesday’s meeting will be held from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau building on U.S. 281.

A second meeting will be held in Killeen on Thursday at the solid waste building located at 2003 Little Nolan Road.

That meeting will be held from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
