LORENA (December 14, 2011)—An 18-wheeler overturned early Wednesday morning on Interstate 35 in Lorena and then later a minivan struck a vehicle parked near the accident scene belonging to the crew dispatched to clean up the wreckage.
The first accident, which happened at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, sent the driver of the 18-wheeler to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Lorena Police Chief Tom Dickson.
Later, the minivan struck the clean up crew’s vehicle.
A passenger in the minivan suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Hillcrest.
The interstate was shut down for a couple of hours and reopened just before 9 a.m., police said.
